We Have a Story of Our Own
Finding a more Human-Centric Digital Marketing
(Teague Nelson’s White Fern story)
Why I Started White Fern
I started White Fern in 2018 as a way to help people share their stories in compelling ways with clients and customers.
I was coming from the world of Affiliate Marketing, where the tools of SEO and content production are used to sell physical products like shoes and mattresses to a wide internet audience. This environment was great to learn deeply the craft of digital marketing, but in the end I felt a lack of meaning and purpose selling physical products I had never seen to a sea of people I would never meet.
White Fern was an intentional shift to use digital marketing in a more-human centric way.

Putting Story and Relationship at the Center
Over the course of working with many clients, I’ve come to realize and see our job essentially as making introductions between real people.
When we start a new project or work with someone new, I’ve found most people want to share who they are as people, what they’re working on, and ultimately how they think and go about their work.
To most people it comes down to forming the beginning of a human relationship with their viewers, as if they were introducing themselves and sharing their vision in person. Our job is to help people do this in a highly compelling way.
Becoming a Partner for the Long-Term
When we start work with someone new, we try to not just offer a service, but form a partnership for the long term.
We’ve seen this come true with most of our clients. From initiative to initiative, clients have come back to us to help shape a narrative, present something new that they’re woking on, or just to keep the conversation going in anticipation of something exciting that’s upcoming.
These long-term partnership relationships are ultimately why I started White Fern, and one of the achievements I’m most proud of as a designer, digital marketer, and business owner.
